Managing Photos

December 23, 2020

Any admin-level user can upload photos into the album. After logging into the Members Area, select Photo Album under the Content Manager System subheading. You will then see a list of all photos in the album. For each entry, you will see a thumbnail of the photo, title, caption, and functions to manipulate the photo.

Uploading Photos
To upload a new photo, click on the "Add New Photo" link. You will be prompted for several fields:

  • title - title of the photo
  • caption - an optional caption to describe what's in the photo
  • file - use the Browse button to select the photo file to be uploaded from your PC's local directory.

NOTE: Only web-suitable formats can be used with the photo album. These include .gif, .jpg, and .png.

After filling in the fields, click on Submit to begin the upload. This may take a few seconds depending on the size of the photo file being uploaded. If you experience problems, please contact us.

The uploader will attempt to take EXIF rotation information for the photo into account, and rotate the uploaded image accordingly.

Managing Photos

  • Change - To change the title and caption of photos at any time, click on "change" next to the photo's entry.
  • Delete - To delete the photo, click on "delete" next to the photo's entry.
  • Move Up/Move Down - You have control over the order of presentation of the photos. To re-arrange, click on these links to move an individual photo up or down in relation to the other photos.

Approving Submitted Photos
Photos submitted by members (if you allow this option), are placed into a pending status.  When you receive a notification of this, you will need to go into the editor, edit the photo to change it's status to active, then use one of the publish options to re-publish the album.

Publishing Photos
Our newest version of the editor will publish photos automatically.

In the previous version of the editor, you are actually working in a 'staging area'. To make your photos visible to the public, click on one of the "Publish" links at the bottom. There are currently two formats. The first formats the photo album in a 4-picture per page format with larger size images. The second publishes in a 10-picture per page format, with smaller thumbnails. In the published version, these thumbnails can be clicked on to view a larger image.
