Membership Add-Ons

Membership Add-Ons:

Typically, membership invoices have only one amount associated with them- the amount for dues.

However, if your organization needs to package additional services with membership that are optional, the MMS allows for what are called Membership Add-Ons.

When turned on in MMS Configuration, this allows for additional items to be packaged with dues. To set up the items that are available as add-ons, edit them via non-dues invoice items (look for item-list link, next to Enter Non-Dues Invoice Record). Enter the item to be available for add-on, and check the "Offer as Membership Add-On?" checkbox. You also have the option of indicating whether the item is available as a single purchase, or as multiple purchases such that a person when selecting would use a checkbox or enter a number (to purchase 1 or more of these items).

You can also indicate whether the item is a recurring item using the 'Recurring?' checkbox. If checked, this allows for an ongoing add-on from term to term. So if it's indicated in the member database for a member, it would be added-on with each renewal (ex: a boat-slip rental fee, that would continue year-to-year, until the member indicated otherwise). If unchecked, indicating a non-recurring item, and the item is indicated in the member database for the member, it would only be added to the next renewal invoice created and then cease to be indicated in the member database afterwards so that it would not be included in future dues invoices. If the member wants a recurring Non-Dues item removed from future invoices, an admin-level user can remove it via member database admin.

This feature works similarly to membership plans in that the invoice records are created based on data entered in the member database, but after the invoice record is created it is independent and not affected by further changes to the member database record. After a dues invoice has been posted with membership add-ons, you can still alter the detail on the invoice. View transactions for the member, click on chg next to the invoice, and click on chg again next to 'Renewal Terms Included'. You'll be able to edit the add-ons included in that invoice.
